I’m only half way through the podcast now, so you might cover this later in the show.

I am a non-Catholic Christian, however I do believe in purgatory for many of the reasons you suggest in this episode.

We will still have bodies in heaven (as Christ still has a body in heaven – glorified). You could view purgatory like a rehab clinic. On Earth if someone is trying to get off drugs they are going to suffer in the sobering process. On Earth its called withdraw, after death it is purgatory. (sin withdraw?)
